Trump approval rating holds mostly steady ahead of address to Congress

According to FiveThirtyEight’s aggregation of approval rating polls, Trump has a 48.1% approval rating, only slightly lower than his 49.7% approval rating a month ago.

Trump’s disapproval rating, according to the same group, has risen during that same time from 41.5% disapproval to 47.8%, notably higher but still a bit less than the president’s approval rating.

RealClearPolitics’ has a similar poll aggregation system and puts Trump’s approval rating at 48.4% approval and 47.8% disapproval. For context, according to Gallup, President Joe Biden came into office with a 57% approval rating and left office with a roughly 40% approval rating.

Biden hit a low point of 36% approval during his term but averaged a roughly 42% approval rating.

Trump is set to address Congress on Tuesday evening as he oversees the flurry of policy changes, a souring of the nation’s relationship with Ukraine but at least for now with a slightly above water approval rating.
