(AURN News) — Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan and Syria are all the latest countries added to President Trump’s expanded travel ban, blocking most people from those nations from coming to the United States. The White House says it’s about national security following the Thanksgiving shooting of two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., which officials blame on an Afghan national.
The policy goes even further for some and fully restricts travel for anyone using Palestinian Authority-issued documents. It tightens rules on travelers from Laos and Sierra Leone and makes it much harder for them to get visas. On top of that, people from 15 other countries, including Nigeria, Senegal, Angola, Malawi, Zimbabwe and several small African and Caribbean nations now face partial restrictions, extra screening or limits on certain types of visas.
When they enter the U.S., the policy falls hardest on Black and brown travelers. While the administration says they are closing security gaps.
