Trump fundraising website goes down shortly after guilty verdict

One of Donald Trump’s political donation websites went down shortly after the former president was convicted of 34 felonies in his hush money New York trial, a result of heavy traffic from supporters in the aftermath of the jury’s verdict, Trump’s campaign said.

The donation site was paid for by the Trump National Committee JFC, a joint fundraising committee of Donald J. Trump for President 2024, Inc. and the Republican National Committee.

The fundraising website posted a “something went wrong” message and a “Gateway time-out” message but was back up within 30 minutes.

Trump’s official campaign page made note of the verdict. It posted a picture of Trump with the term “Political Prisoner” next to it.

“I’m a political prisoner!” the Trump website stated. “I was just convicted in a RIGGED political Witch Hunt trial: I DID NOTHING WRONG! They’ve raided my home, arrested me, took my mugshot, AND NOW THEY’VE JUST CONVICTED ME!”

Both parties looked to use the verdict as an opportunity to fundraise.

Joe Biden’s personal X account on social media posted about 30 minutes after former President Donald Trump’s conviction, telling people that voting would keep Trump out of the White House.

About 30 minutes after the verdict was announced, Biden’s personal X account posted: “There’s only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: At the ballot box. Donate to our campaign today:”

It was accompanied with a link to donate to the Biden/Kamala Harris ticket.

A New York jury found Trump guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide hush money payments.
