Trump Shifts From Denial to Embrace of Project 2025

(AURN News) — “As you know, and as she knows better than anyone, I have nothing to do with Project 2025. I haven’t read it. I don’t want to read it, purposely. I’m not going to read it. This was a group of people that got together. They came up with some ideas, I guess — some good, some bad,” President Donald Trump said on the campaign trail while debating then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Now, Trump is no longer distancing himself from Project 2025 — he is embracing it.

On the campaign trail, Trump called Project 2025 “seriously extreme.” Now he is embracing the plan as his administration leans on it to shape its shutdown strategy.

On Truth Social, Trump boasted about a meeting with his budget chief, Russell Vought — known for his ties to Project 2025 — to decide which federal agencies might face permanent cuts. Vought co-wrote the Heritage Foundation’s 900-page manual for reshaping American life, known as Project 2025.
