Trump talks RFK Jr support ahead of Wisconsin rally

(The Center Square) – Former President Trump isn’t saying much about his Wisconsin strategy, but he is talking about one potential rival.

Trump appeared on News Talk 1130 WISN’s Jay Weber show Wednesday morning to talk about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“He is the most liberal person running. He’s worse than the green party. He’s worse than the green new scam. I mean the green new scam isn’t good enough for him,” Trump said.

The former president said some Republicans see Kennedy as a possible alternative because of his stance on the COVID vaccine. Trump said that’s a mistake.

“By the way, he’s against all vaccines. Polio vaccines, and lots of vaccines that do phenomenal things,” Trump said. “The other day he was being interviewed, and he said ‘no, no the vaccine is okay.’ He softened his stance a lot. So I hope the Republicans are looking at that. He softened his stance, it was like a different person talking.”

The latest Marquette Law School Poll gives Kennedy 13% of the vote in Wisconsin when all candidates are on the ballot. Trump gets 41% of that vote, and President Biden gets 40%.

“What I don’t want to have happen is to have some Republicans go to him as a little bit of an alternative. He’s worse than anybody running. And frankly, if you take Biden or him, Biden is like a conservative compared to this guy. There is a big difference,” Trump said. “We have to define him. We don’t want [to lose] votes. Let them come out of Biden. That’d be great. Let them come out of Biden where they should come out of. But we don’t want Republican votes going to Kennedy. He’s a radical-left guy. He would be marching with [the campus protesters] if he wasn’t running right now. Because that’s where his inclination is.”

Trump is in Wisconsin on Wednesday for a rally in Waukesha County. It is the former president’s first campaign stop in Wisconsin since his hush money trial began in New York City, and it is his first visit to the crucial WOW counties.

Trump lost Wisconsin in 2020 by about 22,000 votes. Much of his slippage in the state came in the moderate-heavy areas in Waukesha County.

Last month’s Marquette Law School Poll gave Trump a 2-point lead over President Biden in Wisconsin.
