Trump taps Patel as FBI director nominee

(The Center Square) – President-elect Donald Trump nominated Kash Patel to be his new FBI director.

If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Patel will replace President Joe Biden’s FBI director, Christopher Wray.

“I am proud to announce that Kashyap “Kash” Patel will serve as the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending Justice, and protecting the American People.”

Patel, 44 and a longtime Trump supporter, is an attorney, former U.S. National Security Council advisor, and senior advisor to the director of National Intelligence. He also served as chief of staff to the U.S. Secretary of Defense in the first Trump administration.
