Trump’s lead grows after debate

Former President Donald Trump appears to have extended his lead over President Joe Biden after last week’s debate, which was widely regarded as a disastrous night for the Biden campaign.

The New York Times/Siena College poll was conducted and released after Biden’s debate and showed Trump with an even bigger lead over his opponent, further intensifying Democrats’ fears that Biden may not be up to the task of defeating Trump.

The poll showed Trump leading by six points among likely voters and by a whopping nine points among registered voters.

The Wall Street Journal also conducted a poll during that time showing Trump up by six points. That survey also reports that 80% say Biden is too old to run for another term.

A CNN poll found a similar gap, though a poll from CBS News and a Reuters/Ipsos poll report a closer race, with Trump ahead by 2 points in the former and tied in the latter.

The polling results are the latest bad news for Biden, who has faced calls from Democrats to drop out of the race after his debate performance.

Biden has publicly said he is remaining in the race, but media reports have flooded in speculating about a potential dropout.

In the New York Times/Siena poll, 74% of those surveyed voters said Biden is too old to be president.
