VP Harris Hits Back After Trump Rally Racist Comments About Puerto Ricans

Vice President Kamala Harris responded after racist remarks by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a Trump rally.

“And these Latinos, they love making babies too, just know that. They do. There’s no pulling out. I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”

In an ad, Harris said: “Puerto Ricans deserve a president who sees and invest in that strength. I will never forget what Donald Trump did and what he did not do when Puerto Rico needed a caring and a competent leader. He abandoned the island, tried to block aid after back-to-back devastating hurricanes and offered nothing more than paper towels and insults. And now, Donald Trump promises to be even more extreme.”

While some Republicans have denounced the jokes, Donald Trump has been silent. And his running mate, J.D. Vance, who said he didn’t hear the joke, said maybe it was racist, but said, “I think that we have to stop getting so offended at every little thing in the United States of America.”
