The White House refrained from expressing a stance on potential pardon requests, emphasizing a commitment to impartiality in matters of justice.
When questioned about calls for President Joe Biden to pardon Marilyn Mosby, the former Baltimore City State’s attorney, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre adopted a noncommittal stance during Friday’s White House press briefing. She explained that the pardon process for federal offenses falls under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Mosby, convicted of falsely claiming financial hardship to withdraw funds from her retirement for a home purchase, faces a potential 40-year prison sentence upon her sentencing later this month.
