Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey: New York roundup

New York is holding elections, including for municipal offices, on Nov. 7, 2023. A number of candidates running in these elections completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

Below is a selection of responses from the candidates who filled out the survey as of Aug. 15. To read each candidate’s full responses, click his or her name at the bottom of the article.

Lisa Thagard (independent) is running for Buffalo Common Council North District, and the general election is on Nov. 7. Here’s how Thagard responded to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

“… Eliminate single-family zoning laws and allow the denser housing. … it is very important I invest in more community centers and activities in the district. … I will commit to finding more resources to address sidewalks, road repairs and poor housing conditions especially homeowners who often can’t afford to make repairs. … My vision is to revitalize the North District.”
