OCCC Founders Day Events Note School’s 50th Anniversary

Founders Day events were held by Oklahoma City Community College on Sunday as the school celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Ceremonies included the presentation of memories from the  first faculty and staff, and from alumni from the past five decades, the showing of a video emphasizing events of the last 50 years, and remarks from Dr. Mautra Staley Jones, president of the college.

During the events, a presentation was made by Kevin S. Perry, chairman of the OCCC board of regents; remarks were made by elected officials, who helped pave the way for South Oklahoma City Junior College to become OCCC (including former State Sen. Marvin York); comments by community organizations (including the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce);  and remarks were made by previous OCCC presidents (including Dr. Paul Sechrist).
