Kevin S. Perry, president and chief operating officer of Perry Publishing & Broadcasting, has been named chairman of the board of FSB Bancshares.
The firm’s board elected Mr. Perry to the position on April 22.
As chairman, Mr. Perry will continue his service to the bank, having served 25 years as a member of the bank’s board of directors.
Perry Publishing & Broadcasting is owner of The Black Chronicle as well as radio stations in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia and South Carolina.
Recently, he was elected as chairman of the board of regents of Oklahoma City Community College, having served six years as a regent.
He succeeds Dick J. Beshear as chairman of FSB Bancshares, who was named chairman emeritus.
Previously, Mr. Beshear served as president and chief executive officer of First Security Bank for more than 34 years.
“Of course, the bank is deeply grateful to Mr. Beshear for his continued leadership and wisdom as it plans for the future,” Mr. Perry said.
First Security Bank is Oklahoma’s only Black-owned bank and has been serving the Oklahoma City metropolitan area for more than 70 years.
“Although First Security Bank is a full-service community bank serving all Oklahomans, its mission is to create innovative and flexible products providing financial capital to Black-owned and other minority-owned businesses,” a statement said.
