(The Center Square) – Gas prices in Florida are holding steady at $3.13 per gallon of regular unleaded, according to data from the American Automobile Association, before the start of Independence Day weekend.
According to AAA, the national price is $3.16 per gallon, 1 cent cheaper than last week and a whopping 35 cents less than the same time last year.
Florida’s price is up 8 cents from last month’s $3.05 per gallon and 40 cents less than last year’s $3.53.
Mid-grade gas is $3.58 per gallon, while premium commands $3.89 per gallon and diesel $3.62.
The least expensive gas is in the northwest part of the Panhandle in Okaloosa County ($2.81). It’s $2.85 in Bay County and $2.89 in Walton County.
The most expensive gas in the state is in the Florida Keys in Monroe County ($3.32). Next highest are Palm Beach County ($3.29) on the east coast, Jefferson County ($3.22) in the Big Bend, Collier County ($3.21) and Levy County ($3.20).
The highest price ($3.29) among Florida’s metropolitan areas is in West Palm Beach and Boca Raton. Naples is $3.21, Gainesville $3.18 and Homosassa Springs $3.17.
The Crestview-Fort Walton Beach metro area is the lowest in the state at $2.82 per gallon, followed by Panama City ($2.85), Pensacola ($2.92) and Tallahassee at $2.98.
Mississippi has the least expensive gas prices nationally at $2.71 per gallon, followed by Texas ($2.72), Oklahoma ($2.74), Tennessee ($2.76) and Louisiana ($2.78).
California has the highest gas prices nationally at $4.57 per gallon, followed by Hawaii ($4.48), Washington ($4.41), Oregon ($4.03) and Nevada ($3.77).
