Bossier Sheriff’s Office reported calls for service increased so far in 2025

(The Center Square) — While reported crime in Shreveport is decreasing, across the river, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office is seeing an increase in reported crime calls compared to last year’s year-to-date crime statistics.

A report from the Bossier Sheriff’s Office through a public records request by The Center Square showed that overall reported crime calls for the office have increased. As of this month, the office has received 6,858 calls for assistance, a little under a hundred more than last year. The department received 6,777 calls for assistance through April 2024.

Back in March, reported crime looked to be decreasing in the parish, but as of April, that isn’t the case. Previous reports showed the department received 9,017 calls for assistance in six months from Oct. 1 to March 1, and 11,781 unit-initiated actions for that time frame.

While other reported crimes are increasing in call volume, major crimes decreased with one less than this time last year. Three major crimes have been reported so far this year. Last year, there were four. Unit initiated actions also decreased compared to this time last year. The office reported 9,797 unit-initiated actions this year and 10,013 last year as of April.

Despite a decrease in major crime calls and unit initiated actions, person crimes and property crimes in the area have increased. So far this year, the office has reported 729 cases of person crimes and more than 900 property crimes. Last year, there were 636 person crime calls and 871 property crime calls year-to-date.

Overall, reported crime calls show a frequency of 29,726 year-to-date compared to last year, when the office received 29,071.

The reported stats for Bossier Sheriff’s Office are for Bossier Parish and does not include reported crime within the city limits of Bossier City, Benton, Haughton and Plain Dealing.
