(The Center Square) — While the majority of people in neighboring Bossier parish voted in favor of the amendment revisions, more than 60% of voters in Caddo parish voted no on all four constitutional amendments on the Saturday ballot.
The proposed revisions on Saturday’s ballot didn’t pass statewide or in Caddo Parish, as nearly 20,000 votes according to unofficial results came in opposing the changes.
According to unofficial results from the Secretary of State’s office, 19,775 residents voted no on Amendment No. 1, 19,040 voted no on Amendment No. 2, 20,650 voted no on Amendment No. 3, and 19,380 voted no on Amendment No. 4. These amendments looked to make changes to how juvenilles under 17 were trialed in courts, tax changes, and changes to the judicial elections and prosecution of out-of-state lawyers.
Also up for vote in the parish were three millage renewals for the Caddo Parish School Board. While around 47% opposed renewing the millages according to unofficial results, the three propositions ultimately passed. 53% voted in favor of Prop No. 1, 54% voted in favor of Prop No. 2, and 53% voted in favor of Prop No. 3. These were not new millages but the renewal of existing millages already in place in the parish.
Fire District 4 and 6 had proposed sales taxes on the ballot asking to levy a 1% sales tax in each district. 62% voted no for District 4 and 56% voted no for District 6.

Bowman won with 71% of the vote according to unofficial results against Mariam Tamica Harley. Residents voted in a new Chief of Police for the Village of Mooringsport. John C. McCaherty won against Shawn Fertenbaugh with 75% of the vote.
