Shreveport officials respond to deadly shooting over the weekend

(The Center Square) – A mass shooting on Saturday left two dead and six injured at a large gathering in Louisiana.

“I know I speak for all of Shreveport when I say we are heartsick at the loss of life in Allendale,” said Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux. “Shreveport deserves safe streets; this kind of violence has no place here. We will mourn the victims, pursue those responsible, and continue the hard work with our law enforcement and community to make every neighborhood safer.”

“This was a reckless and senseless act of violence that cut short two lives and left families shattered,” said Police Chief Wayne Smith. “To those responsible – turn yourselves in now. We will not stop until every person involved is held accountable.”

According to a release from the department, they believe multiple shooters were involved in the attack.

More than 150 people were present at the Allendale gathering in Shreveport at the 1600 block of Poland Avenue.
