Sugar Bowl postponed as investigation into New Orleans terror attack continues

(The Center Square) – The 2025 Sugar Bowl, scheduled to be played Wednesday night in New Orleans, has been postponed as federal, state and local law enforcement continued their investigation into the deadly terrorist attack that left at least 10 dead and dozens more injured.

The Sugar Bowl, held annually at the Superdome in New Orleans, is hosting one of four college football playoff quarterfinals this year. The matchup features Notre Dame vs. Georgia, and now is scheduled to be held Thursday night.

The Superdome had been placed on lockdown earlier Wednesday as sweeps were conducted.

Authorities say Shamsud Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old Houston resident, deliberately drove a truck through a Bourbon Street New Year’s crowd early Wednesday, killing at least 10. Din Jabbar was killed after exchanging gunfire with police.
