(The Center Square) — According to data from the Mississippi Department of Revenue, the state’s tax collections in August were 5.09% or $26.5 million above the estimate.
With two months complete in fiscal 2025, receipts were up by $31.7 million, or 2.9% compared to the revenue estimate and $1.22 million (0.11%) compared to revenues after the same period last year.
Revenues from the state’s 7% sales tax are down so far this fiscal year, trailing the estimate by $9.93 million.
