(The Center Square) – Incumbent Rep. Don Davis still figures to have the toughest battle in a bid to return to Washington, but could North Carolina’s other three Democrats?
Not likely.
Overwhelmingly favored to win Nov. 3 are Reps. Deborah Ross in the 2nd Congressional District against Republican Eugene Douglass and Libertarian Matthew Laszacs; Valerie Foushee in the 4th against Republican Max Ganorkar and Libertarian Guy Meilleur; and Alma Adams in the 12th against Republican Jack Codiga.
Ross commands the urban Raleigh area, Foushee the urban Durham and liberal Orange County area, and Adams the urban Charlotte area.
At 270towin, all three are in the ultimate category of “safe” for Democrats. Ditto on the status from The Center for Politics at the University of Virginia.
At the Cook Political Report, Ross’ seat is a D+17, Foushee D+23 and Adams D+24. This partisan voting index means for a score of D+2, for example, in the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections the district performed about two points more Democratic in terms of two-party vote share than the nation did as a whole.
Ross’ cash on hand after the second quarter ended June 30 was $1.3 million, according to the Federal Elections Commission; Douglass did not have a report on file. Foushee’s cash on hand was just under $48,000 and Ganorkar just under $17,000. And Adams’ cash on hand was $456,000 to Codiga’s less than $3.
