Roundup of Candidate Connection surveys from Ballotpedia

North Carolina is holding primary elections, including for state executive offices, on March 5.

A number of candidates running in these elections completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

Below is a selection of responses from the candidates who filled out the survey as of Nov. 20. To read each candidate’s full responses, click his or her name at the bottom of the article.

Braxton Winston II, a Democrat serving as an at-large member of the Charlotte City Council, is running for North Carolina Commissioner of Labor. Here’s how Winston responded to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

“…I will support North Carolina’s working families and businesses by ensuring that all workers go to work in a safe environment; fighting for all people to be paid fairly under North Carolina labor laws; making it a priority that our workforce is fully staffed to uphold public safety; closing the digital divide and training our next workforce; defending workers rights wherever they find work; taking a ‘whole worker’ approach.”
