Tokyo’s Olympic men’s soccer gold medal match is this Saturday with Spain and Brazil meeting in Yokohama after their tight pair of semifinals which produced just one goal over two games. The Spanish needed a late Marco Asensio strike to edge past hosts Japan while the Brazilians went all the way to penalties before they advanced past Mexico. The Selecao are defending Olympic champions from 2016 while La Rojita have a gold medal from back in 1992 and a silver from 2000.

Here is how you can watch the match and what to know:

Storylines

Spain: Luis de la Fuente’s men are already guaranteed to add to their nation’s Olympic medal haul with at least another silver, but it would also be their first gold in nearly 30 years if they manage to beat Brazil. There is a sense that the Spanish have been doing just enough to get by this tournament but the fatigue levels of some of their main stars likely means that there is not much more left in the tank. Like Asensio against Japan, it might require a moment of magic out of almost nothing to conjure up a victory here.

Brazil: Andre Jardine’s side have been tough to beat with three clean sheets from their five fixtures in Japan and Spain are not exactly scoring at will these Games. Richarlison leads the scoring charts and will almost certainly be crowned top scorer unless there is an unexpected goal fest in Yokohama. Only Argentina in 2004 and 2008 have ever successfully defending their Olympic gold medal and the Selecao will be aiming to emulate their South American rivals here.
