Dr. Cecilia Robinson Woods, superintendent of the Millwood Public School District, said an internal investigation has been conducted and that the district is cooperating with the Del City Police Department regarding the shooting.

She said the department informed her that a Millwood High School student has been arrested in the case.

“We will continue to cooperate with the investigation as needed,” Supt. Woods said in a statement.

“We are deeply concerned about the prevalence of gun violence in our city as a whole and are even more concerned that this violence has infiltrated our community.

“We will do everything in our power to work through this thoroughly and expeditiously.”

“The safety of our students and community is paramount,” she continued.  “We will not let the misguided actions of one tarnish our pride, tradition or our strength.”

The Millwood superintendent said there here will be additional safety measures in place on campus, as well as all remaining events.

Details regarding those additional safety measures are forthcoming, Dr. Woods said.
