22 Wisconsin companies honored for work to hire, support veterans

(The Center Square) – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development recognized 22 employers as Vets Ready Employers for 2024.

The employers are recognized for going above what’s required to hire and support veterans and their families.

The large employers recognized with gold certifications from the Vets Ready Initiative were 4imprint Inc. in Oshkosh, Del Monte Foods Inc. in Plover, Deloitte LLP in Madison, Frank Beverage Group in Middleton, Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin in Menasha, Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Neenah, Menasha Corp. in Neenah, Moraine Park Vocational and Technical College in Fond du Lac, Oshkosh Corp. in Oshkosh, Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee, TDS Telecom in Madison, U.S. Venture Inc. in Appleton, UW Health in Middleton and We Energies in Milwaukee.

“Our nation’s veterans have given so much in service to our country and often face special challenges when they return home, including finding family-supporting employment,” DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek said. “Veterans bring invaluable experience to the workplace, and I commend these Vets Ready employers for employing and engaging veterans. This distinction elevates the work of these employers and gives them the competitive edge in recruiting and retaining veterans.”

The large silver honorees were Old Wisconsin Sausage Co. in Sheboygan, Superior Water Light and Power, Waupaca Foundry Inc. and Xcel Energy in Eau Claire.

The medium sized business with gold certification was Worthington Cylinders in Chilton while MCC Inc. in Appleton, Northwood Technical College in Rice Lake and Precision Iceblast Corp. in Peshtigo were honored in the small business category with gold certification.

“I was proud to serve my country, and I took care of patients in tough situations in a war zone but when I came back to the United States, my civilian health care options were nonexistent, I ended up working at Blockbuster,” said UW Health Chief Nurse Executive Rudy Jackson. “So, bringing capable veterans into our workforce where they can use their skills and knowledge to help our patients is incredibly gratifying.”
