Infamous hellcat driver in Downtown Seattle owes city $60,000

(The Center Square) – The owner of a Dodge Charger Hellcat SRT who has recently become notorious in the Downtown Seattle community now owes the city around $60,000 in penalties.

The driver, 20-year old Miles Hudson, is the target of a number of complaints from residents in the city’s Belltown neighborhood for frequent incidents of excessive speed and loud noise.

Last month, Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison filed a lawsuit against Hudson on behalf of the city demanding judgment for non-compliance alleging violations of the city’s noise code. Hudson had until May 30 to respond to that lawsuit, but failed to do so.

Hudson is continuing to accrue $1,300 in fines per day after failing to restore his vehicle to a less noisy condition by an April 15 deadline. The defendant now owes around $60,000 in fees.

Hudson promotes his vehicle on his Instagram page, which has over 750,000 followers. Notably, Hudson is not the lone registered owner of the infamous vehicle. His mother is also a registered owner.

There have been multiple occasions this year in which the Seattle Police Department stopped Hudson and gave him citation warnings and verbal warnings before the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections required Hudson to restore his vehicle to a less noisy condition by April 15.

In one instance in late March, the Seattle Police Department had a decibel meter standing directly behind the vehicle while it was in park and idling, reading the decibel meter between 84-87 decibels.

Seattle Municipal Code makes it unlawful for a vehicle operator to have their vehicle exhaust noise or engine noise exceed 95 decibels.

“It’s time for him to face the consequences of his actions,” Davison said in a statement. “That’s why I have requested that the court find Mr. Hudson in default and award the city all applicable penalties.”

A hearing in the case is scheduled for June 18.
