Report: Triple murder suspect arrived in Biden administration program

(The Center Square) – Killings of a 77-year-old and children ages 13 and 4 are “as bad as any I’ve heard about,” says a North Carolina prosecutor putting together the facts of a triple murder tied to a suspect from Haiti.

Mackendy Darbouze, 26, is accused in the triple murder on Bell Arthur Drive in Fayetteville. He speaks no English and a published report say U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed he flew into the United States in July 2024 through the CHNV Parole Program established by former President Joe Biden and his administration.

CHNV is an acronym for Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela. The humanitarian program allowed application for a temporary stay in America of two years provided the person had a U.S.-based supporter, passed security vetting and met other criteria.

The program was halted in August. In January 2023, the Biden administration had committed to accepting 30,000. U.S. Customs and Border Protection in August said nearly 530,000 had been given grants through the program.

ICE put a detainer on Darbouze. The suspect has appeared in court and through a translator said he was innocent. Fox News’ Bill Melugin via social media on Friday was the first to report the connection to the CHNV program.

The stabbings were discovered on Friday of last week.

Beatrice Desir, 77, the 13-year-old and the 4-year-old had multiple stab wounds, according to lawmen.

“It’s difficult to hear these types of allegations,” Billy West, the district attorney in Cumberland County, told a Triangle area television station. “I’ve been prosecuting for 25 years and this case is as bad as any I’ve heard about. It’s extremely disturbing facts.”
