State to pay $2.6 million in wrongful death lawsuit

After a seven-year court case, the State of Illinois will settle a case in which a police vehicle crashed into a Decatur woman’s car and killed her. The young daughters of Kelly Wilson will split nearly $2.6 million after their lawyers originally asked for $10 million. In 2016, Illinois State Trooper Jeffrey Denning was speeding to a possible crime scene in Macon County when he slammed into Wilson’s car. In 2021, Denning pleaded guilty to reckless conduct.

Cops seize cannabis, other drugs after 115-mile chase

Police in Williamson County say they seized around $250,000 worth of drugs following a 115-mile chase this week. Deputies tried to pull over a vehicle for moving violations when it sped off north on I-57. The suspect reached speeds of up to 100 mph and traveled to Effingham where deputies were able to terminate the pursuit. A California man was taken into custody. Police said they found over 80 pounds of cannabis in the vehicle and various other drugs.

FAA investigates incident at O’Hare

The FAA is investigating an incident at O’Hare on Tuesday involving two planes that bumped into each other. Officials said a GoJet and a SkyWest plane were waiting for gate space when their wings collided. Both taxied to the gate without further incident. The same SkyWest flight was involved in another incident in October when high winds blew a baggage cart into the plane.
