“Cocaine-Gate”: Who Is Bringing Drugs Into the West Wing?

The discovery of a cocaine-filled baggie in the West Wing of the White House is raising security concerns.

Congressman Henry Cuellar sits on the House Appropriations Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Secret Service. The San Antonio Democrat plans to demand answers about what changes are being made.

“This was cocaine in a bag. Next time you could have another substance that could cause problems,” Rep. Cuellar said.

The baggie was found in a cubby near the executive entrance on the same floor as the situation room and dining area. The congressman says we’re lucky it’s only cocaine and they need to find out how this baggie made it past security.

“What if somebody wants to conceal some sort of substance that could affect the health of the people there? Once they do that, I think there will be a reevaluation as to security to the White House.”
