Georgia Election Case Against Trump Hits Another Wall

(AURN News) — The Georgia Supreme Court has rejected District Attorney Fani Willis’ appeal to remain on the Trump election interference case.

That means Willis, the Fulton County district attorney who brought the case, is permanently removed after judges cited an appearance of impropriety tied to her romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Trump’s attorney called Willis’ conduct “egregious.” Defense lawyers for Trump’s co-defendant Michael Roman, who first exposed the relationship, said “we hope this will finally close this chapter.”

But Willis is not bowing out quietly. In a statement, she said she disagrees with the ruling but will turn over all case files to Georgia’s Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council, which will now decide who takes over the case.

Willis added that she hopes the next prosecutor will have the courage to follow the evidence wherever it leads. For now, one of the most consequential election cases remains in limbo.
