“For now, I want people to understand this. Money will never solve all of my problems,” said Ruby Freeman.
She is one of two Georgia election workers defamed by Rudy Giuliani after the 2020 election. During a news conference, she said, “I will always have to be careful about where I go and who I choose to share my name with.”
A federal judge has ruled that Giuliani must hand over his New York City apartment, sports memorabilia, and 26 luxury watches to Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss, as part of the $148 million defamation judgment against him. He falsely accused them of ballot fraud, fueling Donald Trump’s claim of a stolen election.
The lies spread by Giuliani led to violent threats that made the women fear for their lives. Giuliani’s team is appealing the judgment, but Freeman and Moss are already one step closer to receiving compensation for the harm caused by his false claims.
