Man held pretrial for murder
Illinois State Police say a Saline County murder suspect is being detained pending trial.
ISP arrested Jesse W. Trout, 25, of Eldorado following a homicide investigation conducted at the request of the Eldorado Police Department.
Trout is charged with fatally shooting Michael J. Wiseman, 44, of Eldorado last Sunday morning.
Pastor appointed to transit board
Gov. J.B. Pritzker has appointed Reverend L. Bernard Jakes to continue serving on the Chicago Transit Authority Board.
The senior pastor of West Point Baptist Church currently serves as the board’s chairman of finance and budget.
The Regional Transit Authority transferred $74 million to the CTA from other agencies last month, as lawmakers seek to address a $770-million fiscal cliff this fall.
Bears planned move explained
In an open letter to fans, Chicago Bears president Kevin Warren said the focus of the McCaskey family, which owns the team, has been clear: build a world-class stadium that requires zero money from the state of Illinois for its construction.
Warren said the team’s planned move from Chicago to Arlington Heights was not a decision they reached easily.
The Bears lost their season opener to Minnesota last night, 27-24 at Soldier Field.
