Rep. Buck not running for reelection

(The Center Square) – U.S. Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., announced on Wednesday that he will not seek a sixth term in Congress.

Buck, who was first elected to represent the 4th Congressional District in 2014, told MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell that while he’s leaving Congress, he’s not leaving the Republican Party.

Mitchell noted on her show that Buck has faced death threats after he refused to back Jim Jordan’s bid for speaker

“I have decided it is time for me to do some other things,” Buck said. “I have always been disappointed with our inability in Congress to deal with major issues and I’m also disappointed that the Republican Party continues to, you know, rely on this lie that the 2020 election was stolen, and rely on the January 6th narrative and the political prisoners from January 6th.”

“If we’re going to solve difficult problems we’ve got to deal with some very unpleasant truths or lies and make sure that we project to the public what the truth is,” he added.

In a follow-up video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Buck thanked his constituents, adding that he came to his decision “because tough votes are being replaced by social media status.”

“The Republican Party of today is ignoring self-evident truths about the rule of law and limited government in exchange for self-serving lies,” he said in the video.
