(The Center Square) — President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance have unanimously secured Louisiana’s eight electoral votes for the presidency. The Electoral College met on Tuesday to formally cast their ballots.
Louisiana’s eight electoral votes were never in doubt for the Trump-Vance ticket. Trump won the popular vote in Louisiana 1,208,269 votes to 766,424 votes for Vice President Kamala Harris, carrying 60% of the share.
Trump did not hold any rallies in Louisiana, but still managed to make a 2% gain from 2020.
In June, Trump attended a fundraiser in New Orleans.
The fundraiser took place at the Uptown New Orleans home of Joy and Boysie Bollinger, along with Sue Ellen and Joe Cannizaro serving as co-hosts. Trump attended the event, staying for about two hours before departing the state, just days ahead of his first debate with President Joe Biden.
The gathering drew a notable crowd of Louisiana officials, including Gov. Jeff Landry and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who was featured as a special guest.
Landry, who assumed office in January, has maintained a strong alliance with former President Trump and shares a close relationship with Donald Trump Jr., a regular participant in Landry’s yearly alligator hunt fundraiser.
