Youngkin announces new online portal for Virginia veterans and families

(The Center Square) — Veterans and transitioning service members now have an additional resource to make post-service life and veterans’ benefits more accessible to navigate in Virginia.

That resource is a free online portal called the Virginia Veterans Network, whose launch Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced on Veterans Day at an annual veterans’ luncheon in Virginia Beach.

“Virginia is the proud home of nearly 700,000 military veterans. We go to work everyday to ensure that Virginia is the best state in America for veterans, military service members, and their families to live, work and raise a family,” Youngkin said.

He unveiled the network, which he called “the gold standard of service for Virginia veterans,” as it delivers on the state’s “promise to give Virginia veterans the best available resources.”

Veterans, service members transitioning out of the service and military families who want to learn about or access the federal, state and local benefits available to them simply need to create a network account. Their account will give them access to all six of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services service departments, as well as benefits like disability benefits, job opportunities, medical services, legal services, education, training assistance and peer support.

“Veterans asked for a simple solution for finding a variety of resources in the Commonwealth and beyond, and we made it happen,” said department Commissioner Chuck Zingler. “VVN offers real solutions in real time, connecting the right people to the right resources at the right time.”
