(The Center Square) – President-elect Donald Trump is tapping Kari Lake to run the public international news organization Voice of America.
“I am pleased to announce that Kari Lake will serve as our next Director of the Voice of America. She will be appointed by, and work closely with, our next head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, who I will announce soon, to ensure that the American values of Freedom and Liberty are broadcast around the World FAIRLY and ACCURATELY, unlike the lies spread by the Fake News Media,” Trump posted to Truth Social Wednesday night.
“Kari was a beloved News Anchor in Arizona, which supported me by record margins, for over 20 years,” he added.
Lake previously sought the U.S. Senate seat and the governor’s office in Arizona. She was previously a news anchor at Fox 10 Phoenix before pursuing public office.
The duo were closely aligned in the 2022 and 2024 campaign season, as the president-elect endorsed Lake in both of her races, which she narrowly lost to Gov. Katie Hobbs and Senator-Elect Ruben Gallego, respectively.
