Bubba Wallace Makes History With Brickyard 400 Win at Indianapolis

Bubba Wallace made history Sunday by becoming the first Black driver to win a major race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s iconic 2.5-mile oval, according to the Associated Press.

His Brickyard 400 win was hard-fought, overcoming a rain delay, two overtimes and intense pressure from defending champion Kyle Larson.

The win, Wallace’s third career NASCAR Cup Series victory, also marked his first triumph in one of the sport’s crown-jewel events.

It ended a 100-race winless streak and secured Wallace a spot in the playoffs.

Wallace’s performance delivered a major milestone personally and for his team, amid ongoing legal battles with NASCAR.
