ESPN Parts Ways With Shannon Sharpe After Civil Lawsuit Settlement

ESPN has parted ways with NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe less than two weeks after he settled a civil rape lawsuit filed by a woman identified as “Jane Doe,” according to The New York Times.

Sharpe, who denied the allegation and called the lawsuit a “shakedown,” has not appeared on ESPN since April.

He announced his departure on his podcast “Nightcap,” saying he was “at peace” but wished ESPN had waited until after his brother Sterling’s upcoming Hall of Fame induction. No criminal charges have been filed.

Sharpe, 57, rose to media prominence on FS1’s “Undisputed” before joining “First Take.” He also hosts “Club Shay Shay” and “Nightcap,” both distributed by The Volume through August.
